SCOTLAND – FinTech Scotland and TSB Labs have launched a global innovation programme targeting the growing threat of financial fraud, inviting fintech innovators to develop new solutions to protect consumers and financial institutions alike. Announced at this year’s Money20/20 Europe conference, the initiative underscores a joint effort to strengthen the UK’s position as a safe and digitally advanced financial hub. The programme aims to foster collaboration between cutting-edge startups and established financial players to develop practical, scalable technologies.

The initiative focuses on three pressing fraud-related challenges: improving the way banks detect and communicate fraud with customers, empowering individuals with better tools to control and authorise payments, and accelerating the fraud resolution process. Organisers say these focus areas were selected following significant increases in fraud attempts across the banking sector, particularly in the wake of more sophisticated digital threats. By opening the programme to both domestic and international fintech firms, TSB and FinTech Scotland are betting on cross-border innovation to outpace fraudsters.

Applicants to the programme will be assessed on their ability to deliver real-world impact, with selected firms given the opportunity to co-develop their technologies alongside TSB’s innovation team and industry mentors. Successful participants may see their solutions integrated into TSB’s customer services and beyond. FinTech Scotland CEO Nicola Anderson said the initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between startups and incumbents in addressing systemic industry issues. Applications are open until 25 June 2025, with more information available on FinTech Scotland’s official website.
