In In a significant boost to Scotland's creative economy, Los Angeles-based Halon Entertainment has announced plans to invest £28 million in a new animation and visualisation studio in Glasgow. The facility is expected to create up to 250 jobs over the next three years, reinforcing the city's growing status as a hub for digital media and entertainment.

Halon Entertainment, renowned for its work on major productions such as The Batman, The Mandalorian, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, cited Glasgow's skilled workforce and esteemed academic institutions as key factors in its decision to expand to the city. President Chris Ferriter emphasised that the new studio will enhance the company's ability to collaborate across time zones and deliver high-quality content to global clients.

The Scottish Government and its economic development agency, Scottish Enterprise, are supporting the project with £3.9 million in funding and advisory services. Culture Secretary Angus Robertson hailed the investment as a major endorsement of Scotland's screen sector, highlighting its potential to drive economic growth and create well-paying jobs. The move comes at a pivotal time for the industry, following the recent collapse of Axis Studios, previously Scotland's largest animation firm.
